Reduction of energy duties(Taxwatch (Tax news in english))

As part of the tax reform last year, it was decided that a duty should be introduced on so called “ process energy”. It was decided that as of 2010, the duty should amount to approximately DKK 4,5 per GJ increasing to approximately DKK 15 as of 2013.
The Government and its support party (Dansk Folkeparti) have now agreed to a reduction of the coming duty to about 1/3 of the originally agreed amount. On the other hand the duty increase will be phased in already as of 2012.
Unfortunately, it is unlikely that the duty on the so called “comfort cooling” will be abolished.
To finance the duty reduction it is further agreed to increase the duties on cigarettes and alcohol soda etc. as well as the contemplated “Fat duty law” will be extended to cover also saturate fat in meat.
