Denmark has reached agreements with a number of former tax havens regarding the exchange of information relating to taxes. The new tax treaties are with:
• Anguilla
• Antigua and Barbuda
• Gibraltar
• Saint Kitts and Nevis
• Saint Vincent and the Grenadines
• Singapore
• Turks and Caicos Islands
The treaties give Denmark access to information about Danish taxpayer’s income and possessions connected with the parties, including information stored in their bank and financial institutions.
The new treaties must be considered an important step in the tax authorities' battle against tax havens.
A similar treaty was made with Switzerland last month. More information on the new treaty with Switzerland can be found in tax:watch 14/2009.
